About Me

Hello and welcome to my website!

I am a writer, researcher and facilitator whose work is driven by a fascination with people, places, traditions and folklore.

I mainly write poems and plays, but occasionally also write short stories and essays. One of my short stories, A heart of Gold won the second prize at Writing Nepal short-story contest in 2017, and my essay A Deep Share of Red is coming out in the anthology, Dangerous Women in 2022. Previously I have also written social commentaries for The Himalayan times and The Kathmandu Post, as well as theatre reviews for Broadway Baby.

I am currently one of the core poets at BBC’s Contains Strong Language festival. Alongside, I am working on two new theatre pieces with support from Warwick Arts Center and Theatre503.

I have a MA in Peace and Reconciliation Studies during which my research focused on conflict and natural resources. I have also studied Permaculture and hold certificates in both Permaculture, and Ecology and Conservation. I have experience working in family mediation, and have over a decade worth of experience designing, fundraising and managing projects around sustainability and food security, mostly in remote and isolated regions, such as a J&K in India and Hambantota in Sri Lanka.

Having grown up during a civil war myself, both my creative work and research methodologies are often inspired by these personal and field-based professional experiences. In 2017, I co-designed a research methodology called Missing Voices which went on to be endorsed by UN Women and UNICEF. More recently, I have been working as a UX Researcher.

I am a Trustee for Coventry based theatre company Talking Birds. I am also 1/7th of the writers collective, Koyal Writers.

I was born in China, raised primarily in Nepal and now live in Warwickshire. Together with my husband, I also run Wideline Books.
